Underfloor heating is a popular option to heat a garden office. It is an easy to control way of heating a room, as systems come fitted with programmable timers and thermostats, so you can time it to come on before you arrive at work and to go off once you have finished for the day.
Underfloor heating is also popular as you have no visible form of heating, with the system being tucked away under the flooring. This free’s up wall space in the office for furniture and storage.
Underfloor heating is one of the more expensive garden office options
Underfloor heating tends to be offered as an optional upgrade on garden office designs. This is because it is one of the more expensive heating systems to install, compared with the heating options commonly offered as standard, such as wall mounted convector heaters or free standing oil filled radiators.
We have done some research and found that suppliers are charging prices of £60 per sqm + VAT to £90 per sqm + VAT for supply and fitting of underfloor heating. So, in a garden office with an internal footprint of 10 square meters, you could be paying anything between £720 and £1,080 inc VAT.
This is obviously not an insignificant sum when added to your base garden office price. It is, however, worth considering carefully at the design stage, as underfloor heating is a difficult and disruptive option to add once you have built your garden office.
