To ensure that your garden office building is going to be a comfortable space to work all year round you will want to ensure that it is well insulated. This means that it features insulation in the floor, wall and roof structures and couples this with double glazed doors and windows. All the garden offices we feature on this site are highly insulated.
The amount of insulation used in a garden office varies between suppliers. Some firms try to meet and often exceed the insulation standards for new homes, other firms try to balance a good level of insulation with narrow wall sections so as to maximise the floor space within the office.
Executive Garden Rooms choose the insulation for their buildings on a case by case basis. We recently took a look at one of their garden office buildings which features an impressive 140mm of foil backed PIR insulation in the walls. This is one of the thickest sections of wall insulation we have seen. They coupled this with 90mm of insulation in the floor and 100mm in the roof.
Naturally comfortable and cost effective to run
This level of insulation will ensure that the garden office is naturally comfortable all year round. Don’t forget insulation is just as important in the summer months as in the winter. However well insulated a garden office is, there may be times when you need an extra boost of heat or want to cool the temperature down. The good thing about having chosen a highly insulated garden office building when you brought it, the costs involved heating and cooling the building will be minimal.
This office sits on a footprint of 3.1m x 4.1m and has been slotted in between the house and a fence at the end of the customer’s drive. The building has been finished externally in a low maintenance composite board called Cedral. Internally the office has a fully plastered and decorated interior. Executive Garden Rooms incorporated BT and CAT6 data cabling into the electrical system so that the owners will have reliable connections to the outside world.
