Garden office with room for 3 desks
Often the garden office buildings we feature are designed for one person to work alone. However, they can be designed around the needs of a business with multiple staff members. This project by Cambridgeshire based AMC Garden Rooms is an excellent example of an outdoor office designed for multiple workers.
AMC Garden Rooms clients run an IT consultancy. They were renting commercial premises but decided to utilise an area in their garden to build an office at home that would save them ongoing rent costs.
6m x 3m outdoor office
To accommodate all the team, the office would need to be big enough to house three desks. A 6m x 3m building was decided upon. The AMC Garden Rooms designers mocked up the three desk areas when drawing up the plans to ensure that the space would work as their clients intended. Not all garden office designers take the time to plan how the room will actually function for their clients.
As you might expect with clients who are IT specialists, connectivity within the office was important. We are told more than 200 meters of cabling were incorporated into the walls, with each desk having its own network points.
Garden office with cloakroom
Partition walls have been used to create a cloakroom in the office. The room features a toilet, vanity unit with sink and extractor fan. A cloakroom like this is a helpful addition enabling staff and visitors to use the facilities without having to walk up to the owner's house. Details like this are essential when you want to protect your work-life balance.
Naturally light workspace
As we can see from these photos, the office has a lovely light feel, thanks to the large windows which wrap around the corner of the building. Sliding doors have been mixed with full height windows. The frames of which are Anthracite Grey, which matches well with the graphite stained Thermowood cladding.
Inside, the office features a high-spec plastered and decorated interior. Underfloor heating has been fitted under the laminate flooring. Underfloor heating is a good choice for an office as it frees up wall space for furniture and offers consistent heat all around the room on the coldest days of the year.
