Super energy efficient garden offices
We have been following Garden Spaces' work since 2009 and know that their garden office buildings are amongst the most thermally efficient ranges on the market. They have now launched an upgrade option, which they call their Super Energy Efficient option, that can improve the thermal performance of their garden offices by up to 30%.
Energy efficiency has never been so important; the planet's future depends on us all making wise energy choices, and with electricity costs being so high, the less we use to heat and cool our rooms is good for our bank balance.
As part of Garden Spaces push to offer their customers even better value, they are prepared to offer this upgrade on a 'cost only' basis to all new customers.
At the upcoming Grand Designs Live Show, Garden Spaces will offer a free SEE package upgrade to every customer who visits their stand and provides contact details.
It's easy; you'll find them on stand F7, right next to the Grand Theatre, where Kevin McCloud will be presenting during the 9 days of the show.
Highly insulated SIP's core structure
Garden Spaces utilize a Polyurethane Structural Insulated Panel (SIP) system for the core structure of their garden offices. As standard, Garden Spaces structures are all compliant with thermal requirements for new build homes (where stipulated by Building Control). Still, the Garden Spaces team aims to surpass these requirements to create structures that will keep their customers' energy bills as low as absolutely possible.
Increasing the thermal performance further
With their Super Energy Efficient upgrade option, Garden Spaces have introduced a series of specification tweaks that enhance the thermal performance of their garden offices, making them even more comfortable to use all year round and cheaper to run.
Space-age foil insulation
The Super Energy Efficient specification includes multi-layer foil insulation in addition to the structural insulated panels. The foil insulation is incorporated into the floor, walls and roof build-ups. The addition of this foil sheeting will improve the thermal performance of the office by up to 30%.
Glazing treatment
Glazing is the worst offender in a garden office structure for leaking heat. Garden Spaces offer high-performance glazing as standard, but with their Super Energy Efficient specification, they utilize an enhanced glazing system with an invisible coating that increases the performance of the glazing by 20%.
Blinds to enhance the glazing further
Garden Spaces offers a range of blind solutions to enhance the glazing further. They have blind options that sit discreetly within the glazing units and stylish wooden and aluminium Venetian options that hang externally. These blinds all offer thermal benefits and control light and privacy, but Garden Spaces' new range of blackout blinds is where the benefits genuinely lie.
Adding blackout blinds to your garden office can help maintain the ambient temperature in the room – either to keep the space cool during very hot days, or keep heat in on those colder nights. Garden Spaces calculate that their blackout blinds improve thermal performance by 60% compared with standard glazing.
Garden office climate control
The Super Energy Efficient specification is completed with the option of adding a climate control system. Garden Spaces tell us that they are frequently asked to install 'air to air' heat pump systems into their garden office buildings.
These systems are fitted by a highly skilled expert engineer and offer a return of '4 to 1' for the energy used to run them.
The four benefits of this system are:
- Heats the office in winter
- Cools the office in summer
- Circulates air around the room
- Dehumidifies the air within the room
This well-proven technology is highly energy efficient with an A++ rating, and due to the reliability of the technology, they are now also very low maintenance.
