Are you looking for a small office pod? Well, you should talk to the MorphPOD team who recently built this 1220mm x 2274mm building for a customer in Southampton. This building is not actually going to be used as a home office, but we thought we would show it to you as with a little adaption it could make a great compact home office.
MorphPOD has a unique style, which they mix with a simple palette of materials to create buildings that stand out in the crowd. Normally they would construct all the panels used in their buildings in the workshop before delivering to site. This project was however built from scratch on site as the small garden could only be accessed through the house, meaning all materials had to be walked through the owners home.
This MorphPOD is 2574mm at its highest point so falls into the Permitted Development rule which allowed it to be positioned tight to the boundaries of the garden, thus maximising space in the small garden.
The pod is designed to be material efficient. It has made full use of sheet materials – OSB for the structural sheathing and Birch plywood for the interior finish. The MorphPOD team only had to trim down the height of each sheet.
The exterior cladding is treated softwood board, fitted in a batten and board finish which give the exterior real depth. The room is nice and light thanks to the fully glazed door and the floor to ceiling window to the side elevation.
The sloping roof is covered in EPDM; it has been designed so that pre-sown sedum mat trays can be slotted in. The customer is going to use these sedum roof trays.
This is a great option of a small office pod. To learn more give the MorphPOD team a call on 01547 530 366 or visit the MorphPOD website.
