We were recently asked by a reader if it is possible to ship a garden office from the mainland UK to the Channel Islands, the answer is a definite yes, but not all suppliers offer this service.
Because of the modular nature of garden office design, it is perfectly possible for your chosen supplier to pack up all the parts of your office onto a truck or two and sail over to the Channel Islands. They will send their experienced assembly team, who will stay on the Island until the office is complete.
Living on the Channel Islands doesn’t stop you from asking three or four garden office firms to conduct a site visit as they will happily travel over to see you, and use the journey as a reccy exercise for the transportation of the building, should they get the commission.
Depending on the firm you choose to work with, you should not expect to pay more for your garden office than if you lived on the Mainland. Although, some suppliers do make a delivery charge on top of the building price, so read the small print. Often with this charge, the first 100 miles from the supplier’s workshops is included in the price, with subsequent distance being charged by the mile. We have seen prices of £3 per mile quoted, so it can soon add up – as we say check the small print!
Lead times should also be unaffected by your location. Garden office suppliers tend to work on a traditional order book process of working on projects in the order they come in, so you should still be looking at the typical 4 to 8 weeks between order and installation.
As we said earlier not all garden office firms cover the Channel Islands, but the companies listed in this section of the site are a good place to start your search.
