One of the key benefits of working with a bespoke designer is that you can specify a custom size garden office. With standard and modular designs, you tend to work with fixed dimensions commonly based on the standard sizes of sheet materials. But, with a bespoke design, you can specify a precise size to maximise your plot and the room you create.
A good example of this service is this recent project by Swift Garden Rooms. Swift was approached to design and build a garden office that maximised the space available. This resulted in a building 5.37 meters by 3.37 meters being the best fit. If Swift’s client had opted for a standard or modular design, they would have been limited to a 5m x 3m building. By going down this bespoke route, the customer created an additional 3 square meters of floor space, which is obviously very valuable.
A striking build to tie in with the house
As you can see from the photo, this is a striking garden office, quite different from the Cedar clad designs we commonly feature. Swift’s customer wanted very specific finishes used on the exterior, so that the building ties in, in style with extensions to the main house. Specifying non-standard finishes like this is another benefit of working with a bespoke designer.
Dark grey aluminium bi-fold doors have been fitted on the front elevation with a window on the left-hand elevation creating a glazed corner. An additional narrow floor to ceiling window must create a nice glimpse of the established garden. It’s a nice touch that the exterior trims and decking have been colour matched with the doors and windows, while the timber cladding creates a sharp contrast with the solid grey.
A small additional room has been created at the rear of the office, housing a toilet with concealed cistern and a wash hand basin. The addition of a w.c. increases the usability of the office today, and extends the possible uses for the building in the future.
The garden office was ready for immediate use as the Swift team left site. The owner will have been able to plug-in their equipment and start work straight away thanks to the hard wired internet connection and the USB sockets fitted within the office – these are standard Swift Garden Room features.
